F 16 is responsible for the Uppsala garrison and the operation of Uppsala Airport. The wing is also responsible for the 24/7, year-round surveillance of Swedish airspace and leads the Air Force's combat aircraft in the air. F 16 is looking for an Air Safety Officer with a focus on airports (FSO–Airport). In this role, you will have a central function in ensuring and further developing air safety at the airport. The position involves close collaboration with the airport manager and other managers within the organization, with the goal of maintaining a high and long-term sustainable air safety standard.
Main Responsibilities
As an Air Safety Officer, you are a qualified support to the airport management and work in close cooperation with positions such as airport manager, air safety coordinator, and operational manager. You also have regular contact with operational personnel within the airport's various functions, which gives you good insight into daily operations and its challenges.
The position has a clear monitoring and reporting role. You follow the air safety situation, identify risks and deviations, and report these to responsible managers at various levels. You are functionally led by the air safety department at the Air Staff, while simultaneously supporting local managers and responsible persons in their air safety work.
The work mainly covers risk analysis, risk management, and deviation management, but other tasks related to airport services may also occur. You participate in and conduct investigations and actively contribute to the development of air safety procedures and working methods. Business travel is included.
- Monitor and report on the air safety situation at the airport
- Identify air safety influencing trends within the operations
- Conduct and participate in air safety investigations
- Support managers and responsible persons in systematic air safety work
- Be responsible for and participate in training related to airport operations and air safety work
As a member of the airport management, additional tasks related to airport services may be added.

- Category B Driver's License
- OR7 (Officer Rank 7)

You are analytical, structured, and meticulous in your approach to work, with the ability to see both the big picture and the details. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and the ability to collaborate in a complex operation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed FSO training
- Background from field maintenance service or airport rescue
- Previous work experience at an airport
- Experience in auditing and/or investigation work
- Good computer skills

Employment Type: Permanent. The Swedish Armed Forces may apply a six-month probationary period.
Employment Level: Full-time
Work Location: Uppsala. F 16 also has operations in other locations, which may involve business travel.
Working Hours: Mainly daytime. Evening and weekend duty may occur during training activities.
Start Date: As soon as possible, according to agreement.

Information about the Swedish Armed Forces and the recruiting unit: Uppland Wing, F 16, is headquartered at the Uppsala garrison. The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and surveillance of Uppsala Airport as well as the training of conscripts in several different positions in the Air Force. The unit also leads the 161st Air Control and Air Surveillance Battalion, which controls combat aircraft in the air and manages the constant surveillance of Swedish airspace. The unit operates from several different locations in the country and constitutes an important part of the growth period the Air Force is undergoing.
